Matchweek 7 recap

City hold firm as Neto fires Chelsea up

City stay top, Arsenal stay close

Manchester City stay top on 21 points after a 3-2 win over Ipswich. Phil Foden struck on 19 minutes and Erling Haaland added two, at 34' and 69', but Ipswich scored through D. Maeda on 21' and Z. Flemming on 90' (pen), so the finish was tighter than City would have liked.

Arsenal kept pace in second on 18 points with a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, N. Madueke scoring on 80'. Brighton are third on 16 after their 5-0 win, so the top three are unchanged.

Neto lifts Chelsea, Liverpool leap

Chelsea won 2-0 at Everton, with P. Neto scoring on 46' and again on 90'. They climb two places to fourth on 13 points, while Everton drop three to eighth on 10.

Liverpool were the big climbers, up four places to fifth on 12 points after a 2-1 win at Brentford. Brentford slip two places to sixth on 10 points. Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off on 45' and Vitaly Janelt on 90' for the home side, so it was a bruising afternoon for them.

Aston Villa also rose four places to 12th after a 1-0 win at Newcastle, J. Manzambi scoring on 36'.

Bottom end tightens

Fulham beat Hull City 1-0 thanks to A. Iwobi's goal on 33'. They moved up two places to 17th on 5 points, even though Ryan Sessegnon was sent off on 90'.

Nottingham Forest fell three places to 18th on 5 points after their defeat by Arsenal. Sunderland lost 2-0 at Bournemouth and are down two places to 19th on 4 points. Bournemouth, who had Kevin Danso sent off on 17', still got goals from M. Tavernier on 5' and Evanilson on 48'. They climbed three places to 15th.

Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1 but remain 20th on 3 points, with no change in their position.
